The preliminary cause of the fire is violation of safety regulations during installation of heating equipment.The operational group of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Kyiv Oblast worked on the site.Unclassified EmergenciesPoltava OblastTwo people got injuries after the gas explosion that took place in a one-room apartment of a five-floor living building in Kremenchug Town at 1845hrs May 6. The blast destroyed the wall of neighboring apartment, blew out the windows in the entryways at all floors, and damaged the doors of nine apartments. The local authorities provide the measure of damage restoration caused to the building. The cause of the explosion is under determination.The case is under investigation.The situation is under control of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Poltava Oblast.Kyiv Citya) Twenty balconies and a "Mercedes" car were damaged as a result of a vehicle fire that took place in 14, Kutuzova str., at 0308hrs May 7. The fire started from the car parked under the balconies. Five State Fire Service units put the fire out at 0421hrs. There were no victims. The cause of fire and the losses are being determined.The case is under investigation.The situation is under control of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Kyiv City.b) One person died and three were injured in a traffic accident that took place near the automobile market where "Nissan", "Skoda" and "Volkswagen" cars collided at 2130hrs May 6. The preliminary cause of the accident is that the driver of the "Volkswagen" car did not manage the driving and took the opposite side of the road.The situation is under control of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Kyiv City.The total number of the traffic accidents registered for the past 24hrs in the territory of Ukraine is 131, in which 13 people died and 177 were injured.Summary of EmergenciesFrom the beginning of the year, there have been registered 117 emergencies (123 in 2006), which include: 76 emergencies of industrial origin (90 emergencies in 2006) and 41 emergencies of natural origin (33 emergencies in 2006). Altogether, 211 people died (189 in 2006) and 171 people were injured (215 in 2006).FiresAccording to the available data, for the past 24hrs there have been registered 172 fires (there were 20206 fires from the beginning of the year) including 107 fires in the living areas, in which eight people died (1808 people died from the beginning of the year).Moreover, four fires took place in the business facilities and there were 12 vehicle fires.The fire destroyed 46 buildings, eight units of power motor vehicles and 3.8 tons of forage.The estimated loss from the fires is one million 843 thousand UAH, out of which 436 thousand UAH is considered as direct loss.Lviv OblastA fire destroyed the Greece-Catholic Church and all its belongings in Tuholska village of Skolivsky District at 2035hrs May 6. The State Fire Service put the fire out at 2125hrs. There were no victims. The saved belongings are of more than 40 thousand cost. The preliminary cause of fire is lightning.The situation is under control of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Lviv Oblast.Old Munitions DisposalIvano-Frankivsk OblastTwo artillery shells, dated back to WWII, were found on May 6 during the ground works in Zagvizdya village of Tysmenetsky District. The site is being guarded. The disposal is planned for May 7. The disposal will be conducted by the pyrotechnic team of the emergency rescue special unit of the Main Directorate of Ministry for Emergencies in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.The total number of munitions found in the territory of Ukraine for the past 24hrs is 6, namely: four artillery shells and two mines dated back to WWII.Levels of Radiation in Kyiv City and Kyiv OblastThe radiation measures are stable. They do not exceed the norms in the ground and water.
